After 6 months, it was time to leave what truly felt like our new home. Surprisingly, I had made some wonderful friends with whom I look forward to staying in close contact. I am still amazed, looking back now, how these kind folks welcomed me into their writing group and into their hearts. Lucy and Mark honored us with a fabulous going away party in their new home on Saturday, January 6th , and we were touched by how many guests showed up to celebrate with us! Here's a picture of me and Lonnie, who's been a wonderful support and critic of my writing in Don's beloved writing class!
Cathy, one of my dearest new friends, brought several delicious dishes to share, including one of my favorites: vegetable lasagna! The love... and the wine... was overflowing that evening. Certainly was a night we will never forget! xoxo Lucy, why don't I have a picture of us? Maybe it was taken on your camera? Thanks for a wonderful evening!
This is Bob, who was the first member of our writer's group to introduce himself to me and make me feel comfortable in my new, temporary home. He is working on the next great detective fiction novel! We immediately hit it off by chatting about Cade's Cove. He inspired me and Joel to later bikeride through the entire Cade's Cove loop at dawn. What a memorable experience! Thanks for the tip, Bob! On January 10th, we headed over to South Carolina to visit my family and then drove down to Florida to stay with Joel's parents.
Trading in the RV
December 22, 2007
After only 8 months, we decided to trade in our beautiful Glendale Titanium 5th Wheel for an RV that had a better design. We knew that since we were planning to continue traveling for up to 5 years, we needed a larger bed, bigger refrigerator, and desk space for our 2 computers. Maybe we're spoiling ourselves a little, but we do live in here full-time. So, we packed up the RV, traumatized our poor kitties once again and moved into our 2008 Forest River Cedar Creek.
Saying "Goodbye" to our beloved Titanium!! (Looking back on these pics I remember also how much we loved our beautiful, woodsy spot overlooking the lake in Knoxville. We MISS Knoxville! :-(
Moving out. Thank goodness Southlake Campground wasn't crowded. We had to spread our personal belongings out all over the neighboring spot. You may be wondering how we fit all of this junk into a 37 foot box? Let's just say you have to get creative....
Here comes our new RV... delivered to us straight from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Our new living room!
Even the kitties dig it! :-)
